Description:
Many counselors are aware of the benefits of yoga for trauma survivors. However, not all counselors are trained yoga instructors - most are not! Can they still implement yoga into their clinical practice to help survivors heal? Yes! Yoga includes poses (asana), but also breathwork, meditation, cognitive flexibility and thought management, and even ethics. As one of those counselors who is also a trained yoga instructor, I will teach you more about yoga beyond just the poses you've seen before and the ethical integration of yogic practices to help clients heal without having to become a trained yoga instructor.
Learning Objectives:
Describe what yoga is with knowledge of all eight limbs of yoga
Understand how yoga helps trauma survivors
Learn specific basic yoga interventions you can do with clients
