Date: Wednesdays, January 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th, 2025

Time: 8:30am-12:30pm CST (all 4 days)

Location: Online Via Zoom 

Cost: $650.00 + transaction fee

Payment due upon registration. This training requires a minimum of 3 participants. If the participant minimum is not met participants' payments will be transferred to a future training or reimbursed. (Minus the transaction fee)


Description:

Live/Virtual Session meets the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners & BHEC requirements for the 40-hour Supervision training.


Format:

24 Hours of Self-Study

Assignments & Required Reading will be emailed to registrants about 2 weeks prior to the first day of training. Self-study will be paced across the training dates.

Purchase of "The Strength-Based Clinical Supervision Workbook" by Christopher L. Heffner and Jessica A. Cowan is required (approximately $35.00)

16 Hours of Live, Interactive Training via Webinar (Zoom).

Cameras are required to be on and attendees must be present and visible for the entire training. This will be an interactive training.


Requirements to Receive LCSW Supervisor Designation

To apply for supervisor status, an LCSW must:

(1) Have had their LCSW license for a minimum of two years;

(2) submit an application and all applicable fees; and

(3) submit a completion certificate for an acceptable supervisor training.


Per Texas Administrative Code RULE §781.404 

(3)The Council-approved supervisor must have completed a 40-hour supervisor's training program acceptable to the Council.

(A)At a minimum, the 40-hour supervisor’s training program must meet each of the following requirements:

(i)the course must be taught by a licensed social worker holding both the appropriate license classification, and supervisor status issued by the Council;

(ii)all related coursework and assignments must be completed over a time period not to exceed 90 days; and

(iii)the 40-hour supervision training must include at least:

(I)three (3) hours for defining and conceptualizing supervision and models of supervision;

(II)three (3) hours for supervisory relationship and social worker development;

(III)twelve (12) hours for supervision methods and techniques, covering roles, focus (process, conceptualization, and personalization), group supervision, multi-cultural supervision (race, ethnic, and gender issues), and evaluation methods;

(IV)twelve (12) hours for supervision and standards of practice, codes of ethics, and legal and professional issues; and

(V)three (3) hours for executive and administrative tasks, covering supervision plan, supervision contract, time for supervision, record keeping, and reporting.


About Our Speakers:

Jennifer Sterling, MSSW, LCSW-S

Jennifer’s experience includes program development and implementation of the Big Country CASA program, the Transition Specialists program at Cook Children’s, and in her current position as the Coordinator of the Crime Victim Services unit within the UT Arlington Police Department. She has also served as a Team Lead for one the five largest CASA programs in Texas, supervising staff and volunteers as they advocate for children in foster care. Jennifer’s credentials include being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Supervisor, TBRI Educator, and TCOLE Basic Instructor. Her accolades include 2020 International Association for Chiefs of Police Leadership in Victim Services, UTAPD Non-Sworn Supervisor of the Year (2019-2020), and the Texas Association of College and University Police Administration 2021 Engells Award for Outstanding Non-Sworn Employee.


Stephanie Books, MSSW, LCSW-S

Stephanie’s extensive experience includes being the Victim Services Supervisor for a police department recognized for their Excellence in Victim Services by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Program Director for one of the five largest CASA programs in the state of Texas, and the Clinical Coordinator for the Mental Health Clinic for a large, urban school district. Some of Stephanie’s professional credentials include being trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Individual and Peer Support and CISM Group Crisis Intervention; and a TBRI Educator. Her accolades include being named the TCU Field Instructor of the Year and NASW North Central Texas- Fort Worth Area’s honor for Lifetime Achievement.


Cancellation and Refund Policy: No Refunds will be given for cancellations. If an emergency occurs, your registration may be transferred to a future LCSW Supervision Training, upon trainer discretion.
